What is the minimum age to rent a vehicle in the UAE?
The renter must be at least 21 years old and should have a UAE driving license which is at least 6 months old.
Why is credit card needed to rent a car?
Credit card details are collected at the time of car rental and a pre-authorization amount is blocked as a security deposit. The amount is not deducted from the credit card immediately and will only be deducted in the case of any violation occurred during the contract period but was updated in the traffic system later. In case of a clear track record, the pre-authorization amount will be released back to the credit card but may take up to 3 weeks for the amount to be available on the credit card depending on the bank policy.
What are the parking norms in the UAE?
Paid parking is applicable at all the major city locations. Payment can be done at the parking meter or by sending an SMS message.
In Abu Dhabi, paid parking is applicable on Monday-Saturday from 8 AM to 12 AM. Drivers can send SMS to the number 3009 in the following format <Red00 1111 Y Z>, where 00 is the main plate code, 1111 is the number plate, Y stands for (S) Standard parking or (P) Premium parking, and Z is the duration of parking needed where 1 is for a minimum of 1 hour and 8 for a maximum of 24 hours in standard parking. Premium parking is allowed for maximum of 4 hours only.
What are the Toll Gate systems active in the UAE?
Darb is the toll system established at all the entry point bridges (Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Bridge, Al Maqtaa Bridge, and Mussafah Bridge) to Abu Dhabi city, it is built to automatically deduct a fee when a vehicle crosses a Darb toll gate. There will be a 25% administration fee for every Darb crossing.
Salik is the toll gate system installed at main traffic zones (Al Barsha, Al Garhoud Bridge, Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Mamzar South, Al Mamzar North, Al Safa, Airport Tunnel, Jebel Ali) in Dubai to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic. The Salik gate will automatically deduct a fee when a vehicle crosses a toll gate. There will be a 25% administration fee for each Salik crossing.

Will there be additional charges on returning the vehicle?
Any toll gate crossings or traffic violations will be added to the bill on returning the vehicle.
What about traffic violations?
Radars are set on most roads in the UAE and it is advised to follow the displayed speed limit always.
Common traffic fines that are incurred in the UAE are:
- Failure to wear seat belts.
- Distracted driving i.e. using mobile phone, eating while driving, etc.
- Failure to pay for parking.
- Poor lane discipline.
- Not using signal indicators properly.
- Exceeding the indicated speed limit.
- Rash driving.
What do we do in the case of a breakdown or accidents?

Can anyone other than me drive the car?
Customer needs to inform at the time of renting the vehicle if any additional driver will be driving the vehicle. Documents of the additional driver such as Emirates ID and valid driving license also must be submitted.
What happens if I return the car late?
Additional half-day rate will be charged if the car is not returned on time within the grace period of 2 hours.
How much is my maximum liability in case of an accident?
All vehicles are covered with comprehensive insurance.
In the case of an accident, If the police report finds the other party at fault, then the renter will have zero liability but if the report finds the renter at fault, then the maximum liability will be set at Dhs. 525/- for insurance charges and Dhs. 500/- for police report.
